Dave - 'Funky Dave'

Dave made an attempt to join a band at school when he was 12.  Every instrument was taken except the bass guitar so he reluctantly took up the offer of playing what he initially thought a ‘boring instrument,’  Little did he know that this was to become his passion in life.  His first experience of performing live was in church, playing most Sundays with his little practice amp turned up to number 1.   

Over the years Dave has played in several bands with varying styles including soul, funk, blues, indie rock, jazz and electronic music.  As well as being one of three with Scaramoose, Dave plays with a local funk/rock band ‘20past4’ and is also bass player for 'Sellaband' artist Ellie Williams who recently raised $50,000 to record an album.  

An endless list of artists and bands, local as well as commercial, have influenced him not just as a bassist but also as a musician.  Some of which include The Marcus Miller Band, Jamiroquai, Nathan East, Larry Graham, Jaco, The Bootsy and Jurassic 5.  Dave will continue to play his favourite instrument until his fingers fall off or until he finds something more sensible to do for a living… but that is unlikely to happen !!
